Be Fearless

How will you conquer the unknown?

Private Virtual Roundtable
14th March, 2-3pm GMT (3-4pm CET)

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it."

Nelson Mandela

Today’s leaders are navigating uncharted territories. With rapid advancements in technology, ongoing socio-political pressures, and heightened boardroom expectations, standing still isn’t an option; leaders must be prepared to take the step into the unknown.

The challenge, that’s easier said than done. Amongst the traditional barriers that prevent leaders from embracing change, emerges an intricate interplay between a lack of psychological safety within their organisation and a heightened anxiety towards uncertainty [Forbes, 2023]. And with the distinction between leaders and followers hinging on their ability to confront challenges head-on, senior leaders must recognise that managing the fear of failure is essential for growth.

Fear of the unknown will impede innovation and agility, and will jeopardise an organisation’s long term viability. So, whilst the unknown looks different to everybody, a shared obstacle emerges: fear. How will you be fearless and make a lasting impact in 2024 and beyond?

Speaker - Axel Brown

A Trinidadian-British athlete, Axel made the decision to represent Trinidad and Tobago, making history when he became the only athlete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to organise their own entire federation and compete. At the age of 20, Axel was not competing in sports, and in just eight years he was able to turn himself into an Olympian, pushing both his mental and physical boundaries to the limit.

In 2021, Axel made the decision to begin representing his mother’s homeland of Trinidad and Tobago, going on to finish 3rd at the 2022 North American Cup, marking his prominence in bobsleigh as the first Caribbean bobsledder to finish on the podium of a 4-man race. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Axel and his teammate Andre were the first people to represent Trinidad and Tobago since the year of 2002, finishing the competition in 28th place – the highest Trinidad and Tobago have placed at the Winter Olympics.

Partner

Pathfinder, a community of business leaders, is supported by our club partner Verizon. The aim: to learn from one another by enabling cross-industry conversations, to discuss what might be around the corner and how we must adapt. With the event series running for nearly 2 years, members are encouraged to look beyond the horizon towards radical solutions that make a sustainable difference. Through collaboration and peer insights our community support each other on the journey of personal growth and leadership.

Our Sustainability Pledge

We’re committed to supporting our society and environment. When you attend a Pathfinder event, we pledge to offset your travel or energy usage by planting a tree via One Tree Planted. Once mature, the average tree has a net absorption of 30 kg of CO2 per year, which equates to 227 miles of travel by car or 96 hours of office usage. You can see the maths and learn more here:
